ABSTRACT:
Population displacement is a significant global phenomena with profound impacts on individuals and society. Communities are forcibly evicted from their homes and land under the guise of conservation projects, including wildlife sanctuaries, national parks, and buffer zones, through a process termed conservation-induced displacement. It is the coerced relocation of individuals from their residences and lands to create safeguarded areas for conservation purposes. The impact of displacement on children's education is frequently interrupted by relocation. Establishing a conducive teaching environment at the new location requires time, which impacts the students' learning. This study examines displaced individuals from Srirampur, which was resettled for the purposes of forest and animal conservation within the Barnawapara wildlife Sanctuary. The experiences and views of families displaced from Rampur regarding the state of education and changes in educational institutions before and after displacement indicate that the rehabilitation process has had a mixed impact on education, with both benefits and disadvantages.
