INTRODUCTION:

Research consists of two worlds‘re’ and’ search’. which suggests to look again, or to look for brand spanking new facts or to switch older ones in any branch of data. Random House Dictionary of English language define research as ‘Diligent and systematic inquiry or investigation in to a topic so as to get or revise facts, theories, application etc’. it is generally agreed that the developed world has made tremendous progress in science and technology whithin has enabled. it to adopt way and means for achieving higher standards of living, while the under developed world is struggling for an equivalent how has the developed world succeeded in better means of prosperity. it's thought higher standards in research. research is completed in universities, laboratories, research institution. the research findings appear within the sort of dissertation, research report and research articles.

The word Research springs from the French recherchre aiming to search or seek again, it is an attempt to get facts by the scientific study of a topic, course of fact, it involves the treatment of materials, concepts or symbols for the aim of generalizing to increase, correct or verify knowledge. research are often define as creation of data through investigation, recording and analysis of evidence, it is the logically or the rationality of relationship of varied pieces of evidence that make research valid.

Bibliometric analysis has now become a well-established a part of information research and a quantitative approach to the outline of documents and examination of services is gaining ground both in research and practice. It first appeared in 1969 and it become more popular during 1980s, it's the analytical study of the literature using bibliometric techniques it means analysis done supported the bibliographic phenomena growth of literature, citation pattern etc. coming under bibliometric.

The word bibliometrics springs from latin and greek words, i.e. biblio and metrics. Therefore the word etymologically bibliometrics stands for the appliance of mathematics to the study of bibliography accounting to British Standards Institution.

Bibliometric as a way has extensive application in identifying the Research trends during a subjects, trends in authorship and collaboration in research core journals, Obsolescence, and dispersion of scientific literature useful in estimating the comprehensiveness of secondary journals studying the author productivity, characteristics of subject literature including structure of data historical and sociological aspects of science and helpful in formulation of need based collection development policy, weeding and stacking policy, science policy studies and lots of others, supported the correlation of the info various laws are formulated. The three basic laws are formulated in bibliometrics supported some important studies. These are statistical expression derived on the idea of studies on some characteristics such scattering of articles on a topic in various journals, manicuring the productivity of authors on the idea of the amount of articles contributed by them, the ranking of words during a text on the idea of their frequency of occurrence etc.

SCOPE OF THE STUDY

An effort has been made during this doctoral dissertation to scale the Ph. D. programs in bioscience thus far completed in pt. Ravishankar university in terms of tapes and areas of research productivity of universities etc. Bibliometric analysis for citation collected from the doctorial dissertations in Botany accepted available by Pt. Ravishankar University has been administered to work out the utilization pattern of the literature by the researches Bibliometric studies are wont to identify the pattern of publication, Authershipcitions and secondary journal coverage within the hope that such regularities can an given an insight into the dynamic of the world into account this consequently results in a far better organization of literature.

PURPOSE OF THE STUDY:

Journal literatures is a vital source of data to research work. In the present age when the quantity of scientific literature is increasing a day and costs of journals sere meandering high a librarian faces astute difficulties in formulating the subscription list of journals, which ultimately serves the researchers. This become all the more problematic due to the inelastic budgetary provision, realizing these factors no single library can offered to accumulate every document published within the field of specialization it servers or to incur heavy expenditure on strange of all publication required Hence limited and selected procurement of journals seen to be one among the sensible remedies, under the circumstances compilation of ranked lists of journals with the assistance of reference cum citation analysis are often a useful guide for the librarians in subscribing the journals during a particular subject with the consideration that the more a journal is cited the more popular and important the journal become in circulation and use therein context. this study is such an effort towards understanding the knowledge use patterns researcher of ‘life science’ supported a citation study. Study of their doctoral dissertation. A number of scholars are conducted within the developed countries also as in India to know the pattern of materials employed by scientists for his or her research purpose. However such attempts in interdisciplinary subjects like life science are only a few of these factors motivated to undertake this

OBJECTIVE:

The investigation aim at establishing the subsequent objectives.

-        To review the year wise hack of theses in various discipline of Botany submitted to Pt. Ravishankar University 1990-2017.

-        To review the Guideship pattern in Botany theses.

-        To An analysis of the recorded citations to work out the typical number of citations in selected disciplines of Botany.

-        To study the pattern of contributing authors within the various discipline of Botany

-        To study the citation of Authers.

-        To determine the utilization of various sorts of documents like books, periodicals, journals, articles, conference, proceeding reports, online etc.

-        To study the country wise distributions of cited journals to seek out country of origin of the published journals

-        To compile a rank list of core journals within the various selected disciplines of Botany

METHODOLOGY:

The present study is predicated totally on the analysis of bibliographic units which include the foot notes and therefore the bibliographic references. the knowledge on foot notes cited within the text and therefore the data on the bibliographic entries listed only at the top of every theses was collected and there from, place of publication and year of appearance was noted on a worksheet designed for this purpose. The present study cares with the sources referred during a Ph.D. thesis only. a knowledge base of citations was prepared. In Microsoft Access and therefore the statistical analysis was carried out by employing a program. The method of study is data interpretation supported the tables and figures.

Microsoft Access:

Microsoft Access 2000 may be an electronic database management system. In relationship database system, data is organized in tables that are related or linked to at least one another. Each table consists of rows, called records and columns, called field.

Access 2000 may be a powerful program with numerous easy to use features including the power to quickly locate information, add, delete and modify records, sort record, analyse data and produce professional looking reports.

Once data is entered in to the database table, one can quickly search the table to locate a selected record supported the info in field during a manual system, we will usually locate a record by knowing one key piece of data.

Using Access, it's also easy to feature records from the table once we locate a record. we will edit the contents of the fields to update the record delete the record entirely from the table.

The capability to rearrange or sort records within the table consistent with different fields of knowledge helps provide more meaningful information.one can organise records by name, department, pay, class or the other category needed at a specific time sorting the records in several ways can provide information to different departments for different purposes.

Access includes many features that assist you quickly produce reports ranging from simple listings to complex professional looking reports one can create an easy report by posing for an inventory of specified fields of data and restricting the listing to records meeting designated conditions. we will create a more complex, professional reports using an equivalent restrictions or conditions because the simple report, the info also can be display with different layout, styles or with titles, headings, subtotals or totals.

Methodology applied within the research involves the subsequent

1 Literature survey

2 Bibliometric Analysis

LITERATURE SURVEY:

literature survey consists of identification and selection of data on a subject. The survey is supported the analysis of publication appeared within the database “Library and knowledge Science Abstracts”(LISA) during 1964-1990.the case of literature that supports research activities is especially constituted of journals for the source data collected for the origin and evolution of journal in bioscience. the expansion and trend of doctoral research in Pt. Ravishankar University in bioscience is based on “A Bibliography of Doctoral Dissertations; Science & technology published from association of Indian university New Delhi during the year 1857-1991. The researcher collected information regarding the research administered in bioscience. The most aim was to gather data from cited references within the doctor dissertations and specifically to spot

1 the character of the topic selected for Research.

2 the sort of documents used

3 The range of citations used.

Bibliometric Analysis:

Bibliometric analysis is that the application of mathematics and statistical procedure to books and other records of communication in other words it's the quantitative treatment of the properties of bibliometric units. Bibliometric study was conducted on the idea of the knowledge collected from the theses available for reference from pt. Ravishankar university.

Hypotheses:

1 Journals are the main documents cited in maximum.

2 Researchers mostly prefer foreign publication.

Data Analysis and Interpretation of Citation i n Botany:

The study includes a total of 10437 citation from the 35 doctoral theses in Botany accepted by the Pt Ravishankar Shukla University during the year 1990 to 2017.These citations formed the basis of the citations analysis and interpretation.
